The EBCAM COO attended a European Commission expert group meeting on 22 April 2026 focused on enhancing coordination of external financial tools, including export credit agencies, development finance institutions and private banks.

Discussions covered Global Gateway implementation, investment facilitation agreements, and stronger alignment between EU, national and private financial instruments to support international projects.

The meeting focused on improving the coordination of EU external financial tools to better support European exporters and investors abroad. Discussions highlighted the growing role of Global Gateway and the need for stronger cooperation between EU institutions, Member States and financial actors. Participants examined a possible new EU guarantee instrument for high-risk markets, as well as Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreements (SIFA/CIFA) and Clean Trade and Investment Partnerships (CETIP). The Commission presented the Global Gateway Investment Hub as a central platform for investment projects. Private-sector representatives called for simpler and more harmonised financing procedures. The meeting also discussed regulatory compliance, due diligence requirements and the creation of a European database of financial instruments. Overall, the discussions reflected a clear ambition to make EU financial tools more coordinated, visible and effective in supporting European business activities in external markets.
