On 1 October in Brussels, EBCAM was invited to attend the high-level conference "Scaling up Global Gateway Strategic Coordination of External Financial Tools for the EU's Competitiveness and Partnerships" co-organised by the European Commission (DG INTPA and DG TRADE) and the Danish EU Presidency and moderated by ECDPM.
The event brought together policy-makers, private sector representatives, financial institutions and development agencies to discuss the Global Gateway and to advance smart financing for the EU's international partnerships in a time of geopolitical instability.
The main takeaways from the discussion:
- Need to balance EU competitiveness with African development by ensuring projects create local value
- Deeper support and mobilisation of the private sector
- Better cooperation between "Team Europe" and national development and trade finance institutions
Our constant presence in key arenas where these issues are debated reflects our commitment to ensuring that businesses can play a stronger role in the Global Gateway, shaping partnerships and sustainable development.
