Memorandum of Understanding

European Business Council for Africa and the Mediterranean (EBCAM) - Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo

Brussels, 30 July 2024

The European Business Council for Africa and the Mediterranean (EBCAM) announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo and the start of an important partnership in several areas of cooperation.

Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo has been supporting Italian companies in their growth journey in 70 countries in Africa and the Middle East for over 40 years. Its mission is to create internationalisation opportunities for member companies by guiding them towards target markets that offer the best opportunities based on their specific industry and technological and production specialisations. Through constant engagement with representatives, B2B meetings, and privileged relationships with key stakeholders, Assafrica promotes the business activities and projects of its member companies. The association's team organises business events and initiatives in both Italy and the target countries, providing tailored support from general information to specific business opportunities, such as trade fairs, missions, and tenders, as well as assisting with finding reliable commercial and entrepreneurial partners and resolving specific challenges faced during internationalisation.

In this context, EBCAM, the European Federation of national chambers for Africa, makes its voice stronger by finding a strategic partner from a European country with significant steps towards the development of the African continent. The partnership between EBCAM and Assafrica will strengthen the cooperation and create a network of collaboration between Italian and other European companies who seek to invest in sustainable solutions for development challenges in Africa. EBCAM and Assafrica will work together to promote the principles of more trade, available support and funding for European companies, less bureaucracy and open dialogue with public institutions in the framework of the public-private partnership.
