  • Fundamental values and shared strategic interests are central to the cooperation between the EU and Egypt.
  • Commissioner addressed Egypt’s efforts to advance on its political and economic reforms, in line with the EU’s Macro-Financial Assistance package and the priorities of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership. Continued progress will unlock both public and private investment. The country’s contributions are essential in fostering dialogue, humanitarian efforts, and long-term stability.
  • In developing the New Pact for the Mediterranean, Commissioner listened to Egypt’s perspectives to ensure that the New Pact delivers real, lasting benefits for the region.

This visit takes place in the context of a series of high-level consultations conducted by Commissioner Šuica to shape the New Pact for the Mediterranean. The New Pact – currently being developed in close cooperation with Mediterranean partners and Member States – will address shared challenges, by fostering people to people relations, economic growth, and strengthening regional security and stability.

Dubravka Šuica, Commissioner for the Mediterranean, said:

"It is a great pleasure to be in Egypt early in my mandate. Egypt is a key strategic partner of the EU, playing a crucial role in regional stability. Over the past year, our partnership has reached new heights, and we remain fully committed to supporting Egypt’s economic prosperity and ambitious reform agenda. The Mediterranean is more than a geographical space—it is a cultural and economic bridge linking three continents, and Egypt stands at its heart. By strengthening our partnership, we can turn shared challenges into opportunities, fostering prosperity and stability for both Egypt and the EU. Together, we have achieved significant milestones, from historic investment agreements to financial assistance that strengthens economic modernization. As we develop a New Pact for the Mediterranean, we seek to shape a common vision with Egypt. I look forward to deepening our cooperation for a more stable and prosperous region."
