The Government of Benin, the African Development Bank Group, and the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA) will officially launch the Action Plan for the Circular Economy of Benin (PAEC) on February 4, 2026, in Cotonou.
This initiative is funded by the African Circular Economy Facility (ACEF), a trust fund established by the Bank Group to promote the transition to circular economic models on the continent.
The Action Plan for the Circular Economy of Benin aims to enable the country to harness the opportunities offered by circularity to address environmental and economic challenges, while contributing to the achievement of national objectives in climate action, green growth, and job creation.
The circular economy represents a transformative approach to economic development, focused on reducing waste, optimizing resource use, and promoting reuse. It fosters sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth while supporting innovation and employment.
The PAEC will serve as a strategic reference framework for integrating circularity into public policies and national development plans. It will guide the reforms, investments, and projects necessary to support Benin's transition from a linear production model to a circular economic model.
The event will bring together representatives from the government, technical and financial partners, the private sector, civil society, and other key stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of the roadmap for the circular economy in Benin.
