The meeting place for Africa’s mining community to connect and develop international partnerships

 

EBCAM is delighted to announce its partnership in the 8th edition of the Mining on Top Africa event (MOTA) set to return to Paris, France from the 2 – 3 July 2025 at the Meliá Paris La Défense.

The mining industry is evolving to encompass the global shift for zero carbon emissions, sustainable practices and advancements in technology.  Africa’s mining industry with approximately 40% of the world’s total mining reserves, needs to align and progress across the full mining value chain to become the mining hub of the future. This means embracing the evolution of mining, incorporating sustainability, technology, and partnerships for valuable mining practices.  

Africa is looking to mobilise the funding it needs to provide comprehensive data on mineral wealth, ensure local production and processing to global market players. During the 2025 event, discussions will revolve around how investors can be reassured, and their capital safeguarded, even in the event of a political crisis; What needs to be implemented between Europe and Africa to foster mutually beneficial mining cooperation, through various approaches including production and technology sharing, plus, increasing access to relevant geodata and implementing mining cadastres for transparency, increased investment and for a clear vision of mineral and metal exploration and mining potential amongst others.

The industry driven event will also consider how Africa can meet the requirements of global mandates and supply needs while supporting and growing economies.  

MOTA 2025 running under the theme of “Partnering for prosperity - Maximizing the benefits of Africa's geological endowments" aims to provide a realistic view on where Africa’s mining industry currently stands and what, with strong strategic partnerships, the sector can achieve.

Government leaders, Major and Junior mining houses, investors and other industry speakers will convene in Paris to actively participate in topical issues as follows:

  • Africa’s strategic minerals– key considerations for balancing Africa’s needs with global goals and supply demands.
  • Implementing frameworks to align with global policies and principals, attract investment and ensure social and environmental responsibilities.
  • Funding Africa’s mining industry – attracting finance partners for development
  • Improving mining sustainability – working towards excellence in ESGand implementing ethical mining practices
  • Building value adding mining capacities – defining value chain strategiesfor transformative growth
  • Infrastructure developmentfor the progression of Africa’s mining industry
  • Mining the future – Utilising AI and other technologiesfor a smarter sustainable industry
  • Enhancing supply chains through local content developmentacross production and processing chains

The 2025 edition will also play host to a Ministerial Round Table discussion where an excellent line up of esteemed African Government Ministers and their representatives will discuss strategic plans for utilising Africa’s minerals for economic growth, while balancing Africa’s needs with global goals of supply and demand, showcase more in-depth African country spotlight sessions, corporate leadership presentations from large mining companies, and feature extended networking functions to allow a space for attendees to forge strategic partnerships and play a role in shaping the future of mining in Africa
