The Institute for Security Studies organizes an event on the actions needed for a turnaround in The Horn's prospects on 17 November 2021 at 03:00 PM (Johannesburg).

The Horn of Africa is a highly significant geostrategic site and one of the world’s most challenging regions for security and development. The Horn has a long history of armed conflict and poor governance, and is among the poorest globally.

This seminar will discuss new research on the likely human and economic development prospects for Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. Speakers will also debate the policies needed to set these countries on a sustainable and peaceful development trajectory by 2040.

Simultaneous English–French interpretation will be provided for this seminar.
