Based in Brussels, EBCAM is a confederation of national chambers from 12 European countries, representing around 4,000 companies active in trade and investment in Africa, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the region by offering knowhow, services, products and structures. It participates in European-Africanfora, and facilitates cooperation between its members, including joint business missions of Europeans in Africa.

EBCAM, through a series of actions and activities of its member and the secretariat in Brussels, participates actively in the structured dialogue with the European Union Institutions in order to promote positions and requests of the private sector and help solve problems such as bureaucratic obstructions, difficulties in financing and loans, delays in visas and unfair competition from third countries. Through weekly newsletters, provision of useful information and analyses, teleconferences and meetings, EBCAM improves the links of the private sector with the European Commission and the channels of communication between Europe and Africa, the two continents.
