Afrika-Verein invites you to attend their event on investment guarantees, financing via AfricaConnect and the status quo of German business in South Africa.

South Africa is Africa's most important industrial location, the third-largest economy on the continent, the only African member of the G20 and the BRICS countries and notably South Africa is Germany's most important African trading partner.

More than 600 German companies are active in South Africa and also within Afrika-Verein’s network, there is a large number of companies who are invested in South Africa. The expert circle brings together our members to discuss current trends and the needs for your business to be successful in South Africa. We want to use this input from you, when approaching government representatives and institutions, to shape the German-Africa policy.

In 2021 the Interministerial Committee for Investment Guarantees (German: IMA) decided on applications in connection with investments in South Africa after a long period of time and granted full protection for the capital invested as well as for the earnings due. We are delighted that Herwig Maaßen from PricewaterhouseCoopers will be joining the expert circle to discuss this matter. PwC is processing the investment guarantees on behalf of the Federal Government.

Besides investment guarantees, we also want to take a look at financing mechanisms. We are delighted to also welcome representatives from the DEG to give a short presentation about AfricaConnect. AfricaConnect provides financing support on attractive terms to European companies in both their existing and planned activities in Africa.
