Date: 18 March, 10:00-17:00 (CET)
The African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) are co-hosting, online, the first Africa-Europe Digital for Development (D4D) Hub Multi-Stakeholder Forum with the aim of advancing the partnership between African and European digital actors.
The forum’s objective is to make sure that all African and European stakeholders (including private sector, governments, academia, and civil society) contribute to joint AU-EU efforts to build an inclusive digital economy and society that leaves no one behind.
It will also be an opportunity for the African Union Commission and the European Commission to give an update on the status of the implementation of digital initiatives and programmes.
Expected outcomes include:
- Identification of opportunities and challenges for digital cooperation initiatives.
- Showcasing of good practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches for an inclusive digital transformation.
- Providing a space to link African and European digital actors with the aim to initiate mutually beneficial collaborations and identify opportunities for investments.
- Informing stakeholders on the status of the implementation of the AU digital agenda.
Digital at the heart of AU-EU relations
The Africa-Europe D4D Hub Multi-Stakeholder Forum is taking place in the lead-up to the Africa-Europe Week, to be held on 14-18 February 2022, which will feature a rich series of hybrid and online events with civil society, youth, and other key actors of Africa-Europe relations. The EU-Africa Business Forum and the EU-AU Summit will also take place in this week.
In line with Global Gateway, the new EU strategy to boost sustainable investments in infrastructure development around the world, as well as the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa, digital will take a central role in the agenda.
