Research Assistant

Océane Vermeulen is currently pursuing an Advanced Master’s degree in EU Interdisciplinary Studies at the Institut d’Études Européennes (IEE) of the Université libre de Bruxelles, specialising in Economic Governance and Policies in the European Union. She previously completed a Master’s degree in International Relations and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, both obtained at ULB.
She served as a trainee in the Economic and Political Section of the Belgian Embassy in Kigali, where she contributed to political and economic reporting, business outreach and public diplomacy initiatives. Her academic work includes a master’s thesis analysing Rwanda’s policies aimed at mobilising its diaspora for national development, focusing on the experiences and perceptions of the Rwandan diaspora in Belgium and exploring broader questions related to migration and bilateral relations.
Océane is fluent in French and English and has an intermediate level of Dutch.
