Dr. Vassilis N. Takas holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University, a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University, New York and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the same University, as well as Doctoral degree (Ph.D) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Also Dr. Takas was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kingston University, Great Britain, and was president of the IMESE BUSINESS SCHOOL.

Mr. Vassilis Takas is President of THERMI GROUP. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the companies THERMI AE, THERMI VENTURES AE, THERMI ENERGY AE, THERMI RENEWABLES AE, THERMI SOLAR AE, THERMI SUN AE, BALKAN ENERGY AE, BALKAN SUN AE, BALKAN SOLAR AE, SKG SOLAR, SKG ENERGY, SKG SUN , ILIAKI FLORINAS SA, ILIAKI OLYMPIAS SA, ILIAKI EVROU, ILIAKI MESSINIAS, ENERGIAKI KALAMATAS, VALKANIKI AKINITON, AMES SA, POLYGON SA and other companies.

Mr. Takas is honorary president and former President of the Association of Greek Industries (SBE). He is Honorary Consul General of South Africa in Thessaloniki. He is Vice-President of the Hellenic Venture Capital Association (HVCA) and Vice-President of the Hellenic-African Chamber. He has been vice-president of the Business and Industries Association (SEB), vice-president of the Hellenic Exporters Association (SEBE), vice-president of the Economic and Industrial Research Foundation (IOBE) and the Hellenic Enterprise Management Company of Northern Greece (EEDE). V. N. Takas is the former President of the publishing group MACEDONIA ENIMEROSI SA and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Southeastern European Countries SA. (INA S.A.) and member of the Board of Directors of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBETH), the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki (TEF), the Bank of Macedonia-Thrace, the Hellenic Investment Bank, the Business Council of the Stability Pact of Southeast Europe and many industrial enterprises of Northern Greece.
